Latest earthquakes in Mexico

Recent earthquakes whose epicenters fall within the mapped land boundaries of Mexico. Events offshore and near the country are excluded from these counts. Generalized Natural Earth boundaries are not a legal or definitive border reference.

USGS publishes feeds every minute; TerraPulse collects USGS every minute and NASA/GDACS every 15 minutes. Filters use earthquake occurrence time or latest NASA report time. Retention in explorer: rolling 30 days. Catalogs are incomplete representations of global events. Open NASA status does not establish continuing danger. Non-point geometries are retained and excluded from country assignment. Viewport filtering uses geometry bounding boxes for non-point shapes.

About earthquake observations in Mexico

Are offshore earthquakes counted as earthquakes in Mexico?

No. We use point-in-polygon tests on Natural Earth land boundaries. Offshore events remain unassigned; use the global map for nearby ocean observations. Small islands and coastal boundaries may be generalized at this scale.

Does this page show every earthquake?

No. USGS coverage and detection thresholds vary. Missing or zero reports do not establish an absence of earthquakes. Follow the official agency in Mexico for local guidance.

Can these earthquakes predict the next event?

No. These are recorded observations. TerraPulse does not predict earthquakes or provide official emergency warnings.

Official observations: USGS Earthquake Hazards Program. Geographic classification: Natural Earth. Read our methodology.
